Mouth Infection Madison Oral Surgery & Dental Implants WI 53713Whether you're suffering from a damaged tooth, you've had a piercing put in your mouth or you've just gone through oral surgery, you're at risk of getting an infection.

If you get an infection in your mouth, it puts you in real danger and it's possible that you'll end up with health issues that need to be sorted out if the infection isn't taken care of fast enough.

That's why it's important to know what the signs of infection look and feel like, so that you can be on the watch for them before you are in any real danger.

Watch out for these Signs

There are several different signs that show you are suffering from an infection in your mouth, but one of the most obvious ones is visible swelling.

If you have swelling within your mouth and you aren't sure what it's from, there's a good chance that it's an infection. Gum swelling is the most common form of swelling, and it will be around the source of the infection.

Another sign of infection is a discharge in your mouth, usually puss. This will taste unpleasant and is something you'll likely notice right away.

If you have a fever or are experiencing discomfort in your mouth for an extended period of time, you could also have an infection. It's important to watch out for these issues so that you can receive the proper medicine, and get the procedures done to get rid of your infection before it causes you any additional problems.

If an infection is allowed to go on for too long it can spread to other areas of your body as well. A simple gum or tooth infection can spread to the jaw and lead to more serious issues like loose teeth and an infection that spreads throughout your body. The trick to stopping this from happening is to seek out treatment for the issue as soon as possible.

If you are concerned that you have an oral infection, take action to get help as soon as possible. Come in to our office and we can evaluate your mouth and offer treatment for a potential infection. It's important to seek treatment as soon as possible to avoid more serious issues that come along with infection.
