Call us immediately if you spot damage on your dental crown. Several factors can fracture a dental crown, such as age and physical damage. While a dental crown is strong enough to last at least a decade, it eventually wears out. Apart from wearing out, physical activities can cause fractures to your dental crown. In most cases, activities that exert stressful pressure on your crown can cause fractures. These activities include biting down on hard things, teeth clenching, and teeth grinding. Upon examining a fracture on your crown due to any of these causes, our professionals will suggest a couple of options.

What We Do

Our professionals will examine the size of your crown fracture. Determining the size of the fracture helps us know which treatment method is appropriate. Our professionals can repair the crack by bonding the crown with composite resin if it is tiny. We recommend a brand-new dental crown for an extensive and severe fracture.

We will also look at your tooth and the crown fracture. If the dental crown sustained significant impact to the extent that it got fractured, chances are your tooth also sustained damage. If that is the case, we will also repair your tooth. Fixing the crown alone will have little impact because it is anchored on that tooth.

While fixing a fractured dental crown is possible, you must take good care of it to avoid damage. For instance, ensure it is regularly cleaned through brushing and flossing. You should also avoid hard food items that could easily fracture the dental crown. Doing so goes a long way in enhancing their durability and effectiveness.

Avoid DIY Dental Solutions

It is imperative to avoid trying to fix the problem on your own. Crown fractures are very complicated and demand the skills of our experienced dentists. Attempting to repair them at home can lead to total crown damage. Therefore, in cases of crown fractures, let us know right away. Contact our office for more information on how crown fractures are handled.
