Instead, make an appointment, so that we can see what is going on. You should never ignore a dental abscess. Here is why. Pain The tooth may not be causing you any pain right now, but if you leave it alone there is a good chance that you will have pain from it eventually. An abscess is a sign of decay or damage in a tooth. With untreated tooth decay, you will have pain at some point. Infection A dental abscess is filled with pus. If left alone, if could lead to infection. The infection might affect more than just your mouth, you could end up very ill because of it. Decay If you have a dental abscess, you have tooth decay. You could also have a problem with your gums. The longer you wait to have these things corrected, the worse they will get. Teeth ExtractionIf a dental abscess is caught early, we will often be able to treat it either by draining it or with a root canal. If you wait, the only treatment could be tooth extraction. You could lose the tooth.You never want to take a chance when you realize that there is something unusual happening with your teeth or gums. Your best bet is to make an appointment with us, so that we can treat the problem before it gets worse. |
