After a Facial Injury, You Need to Reach Out to Us
Posted on 5/29/2020 by Tessa Smith-Greisch
Anyone that suffers from a facial injury will worry about the impact it will have on them. The chief concern that people have is about their appearance, but that is only one of the ways that a facial injury can impact their overall health. Because of the many different problems that a facial injury can cause, we want people to know that they should take the time to come to see us. This is how we can help them.
Common Facial Injuries
There are many different types of facial injuries, but there are some that we see that are more common than others. Some of the most common involve lost, broken, chipped or cracked teeth. Trauma to the face can easily cause damage to the teeth. When this happens there are things, we can do to fix that damage. Another common injury is cuts inside of the mouth. They can come from broken teeth or from some other source, but it is important to repair these cuts before they cause more problems.
The Unseen Problems
While cuts in the gums or mouth and broken teeth are something that are fairly easy to spot, there are other things that can happen from a facial injury that may not be as easy to spot at first. If a tooth is knocked loose, it may take a little time before you notice it. Fractures of the jaw or a dislocated jaw may cause some minor discomfort at first, but may not seem like a big deal. Problems with TMJ disorders can take time to surface. Facial injuries are not something to ignore. You may or may not see all the injuries that occur. The best thing you can do after suffering any type of trauma to the face is to get checked at our office and to get the treatment you need for a full recovery. For more information about this or any other oral health issue, contact our offices to schedule an appointment.
