Teething is when your baby starts showing signs of developing teeth. It's usually a normal developmental stage for every baby which occurs uniquely in a child. Some babies may develop the upper incisors first while others will start with lower incisors but generally, they all achieve 20 baby teeth.
When Do Babies Start Teething?
When it comes to teething do not get worried, if your baby is taking much longer than the others to reach the teething stage since every baby has his or her milestone. Some babies may start teething between 4 and 7 months while others may begin much later.
Signs Of Teething In Babies
Teething symptoms are not the same for all babies but the most common ones may include, unusual drooling at the age of 4 months, the constant placing of their fists in the mouth, swollen gum area, and feeling fussy. Additionally, you can experience a rise in your baby's body temperature and a change in their feeding patterns.
How To Help Your Baby Manage Teething Discomfort
Give your baby cold teething toys, hard rubber toys, teething rings, or hard rubber toys to chew on if teething is making them cranky. Avoid freezing teething rings or toys because they may damage your child's gums.
You can also use a clean finger to rub your baby's gums before nursing them to prevent them from biting your nipples. It usually works better to apply something cold to the gums to numb and soothe them.
