Pre-Operative Instructions

  • Patients under the age of eighteen (18) MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Wear inexpensive and comfortable clothing. Do not wear dresses, skirts, rompers, jumpsuits, crop tops, or waist trainers. We recommend a short-sleeved shirt.
  • Be sure to take any preoperative sedatives as directed.
  • Bring your inhaler on the day of surgery, if applicable.
  • Unless directed otherwise, you may take your daily medications with a small sip of water.
  • If applicable, please bring any removable devices that were discussed at your consultation. This includes flippers, Essix, or dentures.

Local Anesthetic Surgeries (Patient Is Awake)

  • If you are receiving local anesthesia, you may eat, drink, and continue your normal daily routines, up until your scheduled appointment. It is not necessary to refrain from eating or drinking.
  • If you were prescribed a preoperative sedative, a value driver must bring you to and from your appointment.

IV Sedation Surgeries (Patient Is “Asleep”)

  • DO NOT eat or drink anything—including water—for 8 hours prior to surgery if you are receiving general anesthesia (IV sedation).
  • Do not wear make-up, jewelry, or bring valuables. Remove any nail polish—including gels and acrylics.
  • A valid driver must check-in with you on the morning of your procedure. Rideshare services (Uber, Lyft, etc.) and taxis do not qualify as valid drivers.
  • Your driver must remain on the premises in their vehicle for the entire duration of your procedure and may not leave at any time.
